How to care for your Calathea Medallion houseplant

Calathea Medallion is a popular houseplant with its striking foliage featuring dark green leaves with lighter green stripes. Here's a brief guide to caring for this unique plant:

Light
Calathea Medallion prefers bright, indirect light. Avoid direct sunlight, as it can scorch the delicate leaves. A north-facing window or a spot a few feet away from an east- or west-facing window is ideal.

Water
Calathea Medallion prefers consistently moist soil but should not be overwatered. Check the soil moisture by sticking your finger about an inch into the pot. If it feels dry, you can water the plant. Use lukewarm water to avoid shocking the roots.

Soil
A well-draining potting mix is essential for Calathea Medallion. You can use a pre-made potting mix specifically formulated for aroids or create your own by combining peat moss, perlite, and vermiculite.

Temperature and Humidity
Calathea Medallion prefers warm temperatures between 18-27°C (65-80°F). It also requires high humidity. If your home's air is dry, you can increase the humidity by misting the plant regularly, placing it on a pebble tray filled with water, or using a humidifier.

Fertilising
Feed your Calathea Medallion with a balanced liquid fertilizer during the growing season (spring and summer).

Troubleshooting
* Yellowing leaves: This could be a sign of overwatering or underwatering. Check the soil moisture and adjust your watering schedule accordingly.
* Brown leaf tips: This is often caused by low humidity. Increase the humidity around your plant.
* Curling or folding leaves: This is a common response to changes in light or humidity. Try to provide more consistent conditions.

With proper care, your Calathea Medallion will thrive and add a touch of tropical beauty to your home.
