Seeds & Saplings sprouted from a simple idea: seed paper that blooms. Instead of cards destined for the bin, we offered a message that could grow, an early nod to our belief in nurturing life and minimising waste.
That belief took deeper root when a plum tree, in a generous year, gifted more fruit than one could ever eat. Refusing to waste a single plum, we shared its seeds and made preserves – a first taste of connecting with others through nature's bounty. This "waste nothing, love everything" philosophy still guides us.
Our love for bringing the outdoors in then blossomed into a passion for houseplants. What began as a personal collection soon multiplied, and sharing these leafy companions felt like a natural next step. Just as we nurtured seedlings, we wanted to share the joy of watching something thrive.
The same desire for something truly "right" led us to candle making. Unsatisfied with generic scents, we began hand-pouring our own, inspired by the subtle fragrances of the natural world. Each candle is crafted with care in Glasgow, a little piece of our home to bring warmth and atmosphere to yours.
This journey, from tiny seeds to thriving plants and hand-poured candles, led us to the vibrant energy of Glasgow's Barras Market in July 2024. Under the iconic Barrowlands Ballroom sign, we found a place to connect directly with our community, sharing advice, swapping plant stories, and meeting fellow nature enthusiasts.
At Seeds & Saplings, we're more than just a shop. We believe in acting with intention, from the soil our plants grow in to the wax we pour. We're committed to treading lightly on the earth, sharing the simple joy of a thriving plant, and the comforting flicker of a hand-crafted flame.
