The 80s called, and they want their neon back. We said no.

If you are looking to brighten up a dark corner of a Glasgow flat, the Dracaena Lemon Lime is your guy. With electric yellow and lime-green stripes, it practically glows in the dark.

It isn't just a looker, though. This is one of the toughest plants you can buy. It is drought-tolerant, easy-going, and an absolute powerhouse when it comes to air purification. It’s the perfect plant for beginners or anyone who forgets to water their plants (we’ve all been there).

How to keep him happy:

  • Light: Needs bright, indirect light to keep those neon stripes popping. If it's too dark, the colours will fade to a regular green (boring!). Avoid direct scorching sun.

  • Water: The ultimate low-maintenance flatmate. Let the soil dry out completely between waterings. If in doubt, wait another few days.

  • Feed: A weak dose of liquid fertiliser once a month in spring and summer.

Troubleshooting:

  • Brown tips? Dracaenas can be a bit particular about their water. They are sensitive to fluoride in tap water. If you see brown tips, try using filtered or rain water (or just leave your tap water out overnight before using). Also Glasgow doesn't have flouride in the water, but who knows where you're reading from!

  • Dropping leaves? Usually a sign of overwatering or a cold draft. Move him to a cosy spot and put the watering can down.

Not Pet Safe. The sap is toxic to cats and dogs if chewed, so keep this one up high or away from curious nibblers.
