Bring a piece of the jungle into your home with the iconic Monstera Deliciosa, affectionately known as the Swiss Cheese Plant. This botanical superstar is celebrated for its truly unique and magnificent foliage. As each new leaf unfurls, it reveals a striking, heart-shaped silhouette that matures to develop the characteristic natural splits and holes—known as fenestrations—that give the plant its distinctive, architectural look. A classic for a reason, the Monstera Deliciosa is a statement plant that instantly elevates any space with its lush, tropical charm and impressive presence.
Care Tips:
Light: Your Swiss Cheese Plant will thrive in bright, indirect light. While it can tolerate lower light, this may result in slower growth and smaller leaves. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch its beautiful foliage.
Watering: Water thoroughly, but allow the top 5 cm of soil to dry out completely before watering again. Over watering is a common mistake; this plant prefers to dry out a little between drinks to prevent root rot.
Temperature: It prefers a warm environment, ideally between 18-29°C. Protect it from cold draughts, which can cause leaf damage.
Humidity: As a native of tropical rain-forests, this plant loves high humidity. Misting its leaves regularly or placing it near a humidifier will keep it happy and looking its best.
Soil: Use a chunky, well-draining potting mix that allows for good aeration around the roots
Fertilising: Feed with a balanced liquid fertiliser every 2-4 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce or stop feeding in autumn and winter.
With its bold leaves and striking silhouette, the Monstera Deliciosa is more than just a houseplant—it's a living piece of art. Its relatively easy-going nature makes it a fantastic choice for both seasoned plant parents and those new to the plant world. This classic tropical beauty is ready to be the stunning new centrepiece of your collection.
