Care Tips
-
Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Water thoroughly when the top inch of soil feels dry to the touch.
Avoid letting the soil dry out completely, as this can stress the plant. -
Humidity: Sword Ferns thrive in high humidity environments.
Mist the fronds regularly or use a humidifier to increase humidity levels. Grouping your plants together can also help to increase humidity. -
Temperature: Maintain a warm temperature between 65-75°F (18-24°C). Avoid placing the fern near cold drafts or heat sources.
-
Fertilizing: Feed your Sword Fern with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength once a month during the growing season (spring and summer).
- Pruning: Remove any brown or yellowing fronds to maintain a healthy and attractive appearance. You can also trim back leggy growth to encourage bushier growth.
Additional Tips:
- Sword Ferns are susceptible to pests such as mealybugs and scale. Inspect your plant regularly and treat any infestations promptly.
- Repot your Sword Fern every 1-2 years or when it becomes root-bound. Use a well-draining potting mix.
-
Sword Ferns are excellent air purifiers, helping to remove toxins from the air.
