For those who want a trailing plant that looks incredibly expensive but is actually very forgiving.

The Satin Pothos features matte, dark green, heart-shaped leaves that are completely splashed with a striking, metallic silver variegation. It looks absolutely brilliant spilling over the edge of a high shelf, a bookcase, or hanging in a macrame planter. Despite looking like a fussy, high-maintenance tropical diva, it is actually one of the most communicative and easy-going trailing plants you can own.

How to keep it happy:

  • Light: Bright, indirect light is exactly what it needs to keep those silver spots sparkling. It will happily tolerate a shadier corner of your flat, but the new growth might lose a bit of its metallic shine and revert to plain green. Keep it out of direct, blazing sun to avoid scorching.

  • Water: Let the top half of the potting soil dry out completely before you even think about watering it. It has a brilliant built-in thirst indicator: the leaves will literally start curling inward when it wants a drink. Give it a thorough soak, let the excess drain away, and the leaves will pop right back open.

  • Humidity: It’s quite happy in standard Glasgow room humidity, but it will definitely appreciate a regular misting or a spot in a naturally steamy bathroom if you want to spoil it.

Troubleshooting:

  • Leaves curling tightly inward? As mentioned above, your plant is just thirsty! Give it a good soak and let it drain.

  • Losing its silver splashes? It's not getting quite enough light to maintain its fancy pattern. Nudge it a little bit closer to a window.

  • Yellowing leaves? Usually a sign of overwatering or letting it sit in a puddle of soggy soil. Ensure the pot can drain properly.

Pet Safety: Not Pet Safe. Like most trailing pothos and scindapsus varieties, this one is mildly toxic if chewed on. Keep those long vines safely out of reach of curious cats and dogs!
